Antiquus Scriptum

Antiquus Scriptum is the moniker of the main project of Jorge Magalhães aka Sacerdos Magus, who started this outfit after he left Firstborn Evil almost two decades ago. Throughout these many years of activity, Jorge recorded and releases quite some stuff, which actually isn’t that bad at all.

Luvart

Luvart is the name of a Brazilian act, but to be honest, I had not heard of them before. They sort of started playing ‘for real’ at the very end of last decade. But apparently they had been around for a short while during the first half of the nineties too, yet without a successful career, maybe with exception in their local scene.

Burial Hex

Clay Ruby’s Burial Hex is an extremely productive outfit, with really tens of tens of recordings and releases. And you know, Clay is active under other monikers and in different constellations as well, with much more releases going on. But okay, that is nothing but an objective remark, with no consequences whatever for this review.

Catacombes

I did never hide my dedication for Nordic styled Black Metal.
I did never hide my appreciation for R., the very sympathetic guy behind Hass Weg Productions.
I did never hide my preference for that French label I just mentioned.
Why these three phrases? Well, for Hass Weg Productions release about nothing else but true Second Wave-oriented Black Glory Supremacy! And this time, well, what do you think…

Human Ashtray

Despite more than a decade of existence, Catalonian act (I dare not to mention ‘Spanish act’ anymore) Human Ashtray have a very selected biography, with one release in 2007 and one in 2012. That’s it, until now. As a four-piece, these guys now return with Exile, a seven-song album that lasts for about twenty-eight minutes. The material was recorded, mixed and mastered at the Trempol Studio with guitarist Xevi Alegre behind the desk.

Sros Lords

A label that I came in touch with quite recently is Merdümgiriz, originating from one of those countries of peace, honey and freedom of speech, Turkey. For reasons I do not want to go deeper into the matter, they moved over to London – but that’s a story that I do not want to dig out right here, right now. Anyway, they do house some excellent acts on their roster – enter the label’s name in the ‘search’-tab and you’ll find some (evidently highly interesting) reviews that undersigned did for a handful of Merdümgiriz releases.

Tamerlan

This makes sense… Tamerlan, the solo-outfit of Serbian Timur Iskandarov, signed to Casus Belli Musica, a fantastic Russian label run by a great crew of devoted Music fans. Dmitry and friends: Уважение!

Winterblood

This is not a review on a new recording by German band Winterblood, you know, the one that gave pleasure (or irritation?) to the Black Metal scene with their 2013-album Herbstsehnsucht. That album was released via French label Le Crépuscule Du Soir Productions (at this moment having a break, apparently???), and the funny thing is that this very same label also released something from another act called Winterblood: Anelli, 2014.

Sect 37

Stuart J Harris started the outfit Section 37 almost two decades ago, releasing stuff under the monikers of Section 37, Sect 37 or S 37. Always in a collaboration with another artist, Stuart writes, records and releases his electronic madness, and a label’s name that returns is that of Aesthetic Death, one of the greatest names, to my personal opinion, when talking about the weirdest dimensions of Doom and Ambient frenzy (and much more).

Stalnye Nervy

A couple of years ago, I can in touch with Alexey Korolyov, a very sympathetic guy from Saint-Petersburg who ran (and still runs) the label Satanath Records, and the guy behind the very interesting projects Satanath and Abigorum. In mean time he also founded Symbol Of Domination Productions, another excellent label from Russia. Both labels characterise diversity, yet with a certain darkened, f*cked-up attitude. All kinds of extreme Metal are like welcome on both labels.
