Kreiviskai

The ancient city of Tier, not that far away from Moscow, capital of the Russian Federation, has quite an interesting history. Unfortunately, the old Soviet institutes sort of ‘killed’ quite some elements from the culture and traditions of that era, at the shores of the river Volga. But are several bands out there that try to revive the forgotten glory of that era / area, and amongst those is this one: Kreiviskai. The band was formed in 2013, and soon after their birth, the quartet started working on their debut full album.

Eleanora

It has been almost two years; two years we had to wait for the successor of the nameless EP, but finally Belgium’s finest Eleanora return with a new pièce d’art, called Allure, once again under the protective wings of Consouling Sounds. The reason why I was so impatiently waiting, well, I’d like to invite you to check out the review I wrote for that mini-album, which was published on September 9th 2014…

Grimirg

Undersigned was totally blown away (figuratively) by Grimirg’s debut album MMXV-I; check out the review that was published on December 13th 2015. Both the project (Grimirg) and the label (Patologian Laboratorio Productions) are courtesy of Aki Klemm aka Grim666, for your information.

Morth

Morth is a one-man army formed in the Bulgarian city of Sandanski, in the far South-West of the country, close to the Greek and Macedonian borders. The project was born almost a decade and a half ago by Georgi ‘Erilyne’ Georgiev, but the guy moved over to North America in mean time.

Lung Molde

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, uSSa, Lung Molde were formed somewhere in 2015 by MS (drums), AD (guitars and bass) and JH (vocals and guitars). They wrote and recorded some compositions, which they did release independently the digital way in September 2015. Little later, the great and, I hope, upcoming American label Caligari Records decided to release the material on tape. This gets released in an edition limited to 175 copies.

Pestiferum

Formed a decade ago, South-France’s Pestiferum did offer the audience a limited yet highly acceptable number of releases; amongst those two splits (one with mighty Fhoi Myore) and a first album in 2009, being Solstice d’Hiver. Then, un moment donné, Pestiferum signed to (also mighty) Hass Weg Productions in order to release the sophomore full length studio album, Déchus Du Fléau, coming in an edition of 1,000 copies, including a sixteen-page booklet.

Aryman

The Polish horde Aryman was formed at the very beginning of this century, but initially it was a band without name, without an aim (besides playing Black Metal!), without any official and professional recording or release. I guess it was in 2006 when main members Nefarius and Non Serviam decided to baptise their sonic brainchild as Aryman.

Sutcliffe Jügend

Let’s start with an open question: is it possible to seek for, and find, some symbiosis of melodious beauty and chaotic harshness? Can Power-Electronics and semi-divinity result in acceptable structures? Let’s find out…

God Mother / Artemis

Another split 7”EP by WOOAAARGH, another opportunity for fans of the extreme… Check this out!

This untitled vinyl disc gets released in an edition of 240 ‘doom black’ copies and 240 transparent ones green mixed with black. Both bands come with a couple of new songs, following the legacy of acts like Converge – but I’m going too fast right now (influenced by this sonic shit?)…

Lykaionas

I think the Greek scene has always been largely underestimated. Some ‘big’ names did reach the rest of the world (as from the Eighties), but there’s quite an impressive underground scene too with some excellent outfits, and unfortunately they do not (always) get the attention they (sometimes) deserve. With gratitude for Hass Weg Productions (and distributing partner-in-crime Lower Silesian Stronghold), at least one band sort of crawls out of the bottomless pits of oblivion.
