Kurnugia

Kurnugia are a new band with some extremely experienced members in its ranks, currently or formerly active in the likes of Decrepit, Incantation or The Spawn Of Satan, amongst many others. The quartet wrote and recorded two tracks, compiled as Tribulations Of The Abyss, and originally released independently in May 2013 (actually on CD). Of course the Blood Harvest crew had the intelligence to re-release this stuff on vinyl.

Gravecrusher

One of the many excellent releases on Spanish label Xtreem Music, run by Christ Denied / Avulsed’s Dave Rotten, is the EP Morbid Black Oath by Hungarian five-piece Gravecrusher, an experienced act that was formed in 2012 (the members are or were involved with the likes of Necrosodomy, Nebron [one of my faves!] or Goblin Gore).

Erih

Hailing from Ukraine, one of the leading countries when talking about heathen, pagan or epic Black metal (cf. the convinced Vacula-roster!), Erih return with their second full length, smartly called II, after 2012’s Erih. Like many bands from out there, the lyrics are in their mother tongue, so don’t ask me what they are all about specifically, but believe me if I say that is has nothing to do with joy and happiness… The ‘Music’ speaks for itself…

Devilish Impressions

Devilish Impression did surprise the Netherworlds a lot with their 2012-album Simulacra (it was their third full length recording), being compared as some mixture of Behemoth and Septic Flesh (or is it Septicflesh?). Now they return with a two-track LP which shamelessly continues that very same path. The band released it independently in May 2014, i.e. two newly written pieces and, as bonus, three demo-tracks.

Waffenruhe / BloodSoil / Verney 1826 / Striider

In quite an impressive series of majestic albums, Germany’s Castellum Stoufenburc release a fantastic four-way split, consisting of (new) hymns by all projects involved (three compositions each), as well as some collaborative compositions. Great Aural Art once again, but the visual aspect is at least as impressive (once again done by Cold Sun Arts). One sad remark, however: the limitation to 200 copies only; as a matter of fact, that’s a sad thing for you, for I have mine ;-) (indeed, undersigned did add a smiley…)…

Black Depths Grey Waves

UK-based label is quite an ‘old’ label, yet pretty modest in releases. There was some material during the nineties, followed by a period of relative silence, yet the label continued releasing new stuff as from half of last decade again, though still limited in number.

Northaunt

Finally! It took long, way too long, but now, after nine years, Northaunt finally return with a completely new epos. Hærleif Langås worked on it as from 2003 or 2004 until 2014, but the result is truly impressive: eighty (!) minutes of truly amazing and atmospheric Ambient, available on double compact disc (edition of 700 copies) and on vinyl (double-LP, limited to 300 copies, with one black and one white disc, and co-produced with Tesco Organisation).

Nekro:mancer

German DIY-label Vomit Bucket Productions is focusing on projects by founder Gag only as from a couple of months ago. One of the last releases that were not composed by Gag (he’s the guy behind the likes of Ataraxy, The People’s Noise Project, Vomitous Discharge, The Thousand Arms Of Compassion and several more), was At Night Time, created by Nekro:mancer.
