Wovenwar

After As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was arrested on May 8, 2013 The remaining members start to jam and after Lambesis negatively affected  his relationships they start a new group: Wovenwar is a heavy metal band from San Diego, California, US founded in 2013.

Thunder Lord

This Heavy/ Thrash Metal act from Santiago, Chile was founded back in 2002 by singer/ guitarist Esteban Peñaililo, second guitarist Misael Cabello, bassist Francisco Menares and a drummer of whose identity I am uncertain (it being either Nicolás Duarte, or a fellow known just as Luis).

The Sultans

This minimalist instrumental Boogie Blues act is the brainchild of Laja Aijala, formerly the singer of Terveet Kadet, one of Finland's more infamous Crust Punk acts, and obviously quite a change from what he did with his other band.

The Black Rain

I would have never guessed this band came from Italy, until I started reading the available info about them, and noticed their names. Seems this band originally formed back in 2002, but only found this line up in 2010. Their debut album ‘Night Tales’ was released in 2012, so this is their second full album on the Atomic Stuff label.

Temperance

Although this Modern Heavy Metal was founded only last year, its individual members can already boast experiences in the Italian scene going back a decade. So, let us check what these dudes (and lady) have been up to in the past, shall we?

Raum Kingdom

There's very little to tell about this Louth, Dublin based Irish Sludge/ Doom Metal band, because it comes dropping out of a clear blue sky, and info about the guys is really scarce, to the point that I'm quite unable to tell you when Dave Lee (vocals), Andrew Colohan (guitar), Ronan Connor (bass) and Mark Gilchrist (drums) founded the band.

P.L.F.

Goodness grief...it's been a while since the editor-in-chief dropped a nice Crust Grindcore Metal act into my to-do box, but with P.L.F. he sure handed me quite a job!

Overpower

This Zagreb based Croatian Groove Thrash act was originally founded in 2006 as a power trio consisting of guitarist Daniel Badanjak, bassist David Vukusic and drummer Frane Velvic, but what with the latter still living outside Zagreb, where the band had its rehearsal space, the material played by the band consisted mainly of covers by such bands as Iron Maiden, Metallica and Judas Priest, and very little work was undertaken to develop original music.

Madball

Madball is a New-York hardcore band founded in the late 1980s as a side project of Agostic Front. After 8 different drum players 1 bassist en 2 guitar players are this the current members; Freddy Cricien – vocals (1988–2001, 2002–present) / Hoya Roc – bass (1993–2001, 2002–present) / Mitts – guitar (2002–present) / Mike Justian – drums (2011–present).

High Spirits

To be honest I thought this was yet another rerelease of an obscure NWOBHM band, something HRR has somewhat built up a reputation with…. But no as it turns out High Spirits is the project of a certain Chris Black… it seems Mr.Black  must have a deep love for the early 80’s hardrock and metal scene as “You are here”, is 9 tracks of pure  nostalgia, at least if lIke me you’re well over forty, closer to 50…..
