House Of Lords

Most of House Of Lords albums are good, if not very good. And this new album is no exception on that rule. Of course it brings us nothing new, since the band, or their mastermind James Christian stick to the same recipe.

Foreigner

Since their reunion in 2005, Foreigner has become a very successful unit again, despite only founder Mick Jones remained from the legendary line-up. However with Kelly Hansen he has found not only someone who could match the warm timbre of Lou Gramm but also improve and add his own identity to the vocals of the many classic songs the band has produced in their 40 years of existence. Of course many best of albums have passed the revue but this time a live registration with mainly the ballads was a first.

Dyscarnate

Dyscarnate an English band founded in Horsham in the year 2004. Current members are Henry Bates (Bass, Vocals) Matt Unsworth (Drums) and Tom Whitty (Guitars, Vocals). A band playing death metal with a lot of hardcore influences.

Birth of Joy

I remember when I received the first album from this Dutch band a few years ago, their bluesy organ rock was a bit too average for my taste, although it was obvious that they had the technical skills to reach a better level.

Adrenaline Mob

Adrenaline Mob formed in early 2011 in New York. By singer Russell Allen (Symphonny X), guitarist Mike Orlando and drummer Portnoy (ex-Dream Theater). After some changes of members, Mike Portnoy left in june 2013 due to ‘scheduling conflicts’ .For the moment are the current members: Russell Allen (Vocals), Mike Orlando (Guitars), John Moyer (Bass) and AJ Pero (Drums formerly Twisted Sister).

ZOM

It has been released more than four months ago in mean time, this vinyl-effort, but since I did receive this stuff only recently, and for this material is oh-so jummie… Besides, it’s stuff provided via Invictus Productions, and who am I to ignore this superior label…

Widows

Here's an interesting one. Widows is a UK (Nottingham) band whose sound is much akin to older Clutch, Trucker Diablo, Throttlerod, Down and a dirtier Orange Goblin.

When the Deadbolt Breaks

Double albums are always quite bold steps to take. Automatically it is a long time to hold your audience's imagination for, something that is difficult enough at the best of times. Connectinut long running doom/post rock outfit When the Deadbolt Breaks have worked hard over the years to dish out some of the most bastard massive distortion, glacially paced downtuned sludge concoctions that has surfaced this doomed planet. It is dirty, ruthless and sometimes unbearable to listen to.

Sparta

Sparta  a  NWOBHM band who’s history goes back to  1979! decided to record a new album  after  a successful re-release of their old  ( obscure) stuff via the HIGHROLLER RECORDS LABEL.  Begs the question if this was a good idea….. I would say yes and no…..
