The Hesperia-project is run by multi-instrumentalist Hesperus, once member of Sulphuria. He started this solo-outfit somewhere during the nineties, in order to pay tribute to the ancient, and mystical / mythological / mythical glory of a rich ‘pre-Italian’ past. At the beginning of this century, Hesperus and his Hesperia-project started working on a four-part conceptual masterwork, based on Virgilio’s Eneide aka Aeneidos.
Behind this solo project is one George Hirsch, singer for legendary Philadelphia based Hardcore outfit Blacklisted, which has been in existence since the early 2000s.
Exmortus are a very heavy formation from California. French act Dirge is about to celebrate its twentieth anniversary (!). A first result of this upcoming party is the release of the band’s sixth album, Hyperion, which was recorded and mixed by original member Marc T., and mastered by Nicolas Dick (known as well from Kill The Thrill, and collaborating on this album as guest too, by the way, besides Lycia’s Tara Vanflower and Milena Rousseau of Miroda-fame).
Heavy hardcore noise-punk a la Unsane, Buzz-oven, Hammerhead and Jesus Lizard, from this French duo on this 10-song outing, as the majority of the music by Carne lies buried under a powerful onslaught of gritty vocals and a treacherous stomp of beats.
Butcher Babies is an American metal band from Los Angeles, California founded in 2010. Their linu-up is: Carla Harvey – vocals, Heidi Shepherd – vocals, Henry Flury – guitars, Jason Klein – bass and Chris Warner – drums. Some tape can hide the nipple but not the gate, I don’t know it hurts if pull it off.
Blackbird is a band coming from South-West Germany. To cut a long story short. If you’re into bands like AC/DC, Krokus, Airbourne, and want to have a good time, you definitely should buy this album.
It’s pure no-nonsense rock’n’roll from start to end. The vocals sound like a mix between Brian Johnson and Udo Dirkschneider. Of course not all songs are equally good, but isn’t this type of music meant to have fun? In which case it doesn’t do any harm if some songs sound alike.
