Catacombes

French musician Antoine Guibert aka Le Démoniaque surprised me enormously with 2017’s album Le Démoniaque, which got released via one of my mostly appreciated labels from France, Hass Weg Productions, under the flag of Catacombes (which is French for - and now you smart-ass will be surprised - ‘catacombs’ indeed!). So, it did somehow please me when R. from Hass Weg Productions did send me a successor to that debut full length album a while ago.

Iagon

I was not sure about how to start this review. I would focus on my appreciation for Dunkelheit Produktionen’s roster, since I am a ‘fan’ of Extreme Metal for, well, some decades. And then I would refer to the open-minded approach of this label for they do sign, and release, material from other (related) genres too.

Ctephin

Driven by a vision to support the Underground, I am open-minded in a sense that I do not limit myself to review new material only. Most labels I am working with do know that. And more than often I get in touch with an older release that is simply worth being experienced. In this review’s case, I want to refer to the fabulous – yet way too underestimated – label Drone Records, and the Ctephin release DUAD.

Educated Scum

Sometimes I prefer to keep it simple and short, for the sonic terror must do the talking. This surely goes for this release, called Corrupt, which is the second full length studio album by Moscow-based act Educated Scum. The band is active for about two decades, but they did not create that much stuff. Their former studio recording dates from 2011 (called React, by the way), and afterwards there was just a compilation (link for the review on that album, see below) and a live registration.

Vaeok

I was quite excited when I received this untitled debut recording by Vaeok, because of both members involved. At the one hand you have multi-instrumentalist VJS, whom you might know from combos like Adaestuo, Demoncy (he seems to be part of this horde once again as from 2018), ex-Kult Of Azazel, Nightbringer or Sargeist.

Gloomy Grim

Two years and something after their last full-length studio album (The Age Of Aquarius, Satanath Records and Murdher Records), Finnish cult-horde Gloomy Grim returns with a new recording.

Ars Veneficium / Ulvdalir

Immortal Frost Productions is known especially for the many releases on compact disc, yet as from a couple of years ago, though quite modest, the label also released some material on vinyl. It all started with a split 12” EP in very early 2015, gathering Finland’s finest Azaghal and Belgian act Ars Veneficium, which involves label owner S. Now the label comes up with the tenth vinyl release, which is once again a split that includes Ars Veneficium.

Har

Har are a young project but consisting of experienced musicians from Israel. The members of this Tel Aviv based act were or are in other notorious bands such as Mortuus Umbra, Witchcraft Sadomizer, Mocous Scrotum (hey guys, are you still alive?), Sonne Adam and so on. The band independently released a first EP in 2014, called Baal Ha’ov (there was a tape-edition too, quite limited, via Orgasmatron Records), and then everything seemed to fade away in total silence.
