Consouling Sounds

Dirk Serries / Rutger Zuydervelt

Pretty soon I will come back to the new full length by Dirk Serries - you know, the guy behind acts like (defunct) vidnaObmana, Microphonics, Continuum, The Void Of Expansion, Fear Falls Burning, Streams Of Consciousness and so many more. That album, for your information, is called Unseen Descending And Lamentations and has been released as well via ConSouling Sounds; stay alert!

Wiegedood

Once again, Consouling Sounds have quite an impressive band signed to their roster, though some of the members are / were working with this label before. Anyway, it does not matter, for this is another superb release done via this Flemish label: De Doden Hebben Het Goed (meaning something like ‘the dead are all right’) by Wiegedood (‘death in the cradle’ or ‘sudden infant death syndrome’).

Deuil

One of the things Nele from Consouling Sounds did send to our headquarters is the Deuil-album Shock / Deny, the successor of 2013’s Acceptance / Rebuild. Once again the material deals with life and death, as the title suggests, and this time, more specifically, with the first two levels of the mourning / grief process (the bad news-shock and denial), and feelings of loss, sadness and loneliness.

Northumbria

Northumbria was an Anglo-Saxon kingdom in the east of England with quite an interesting history. As from about 500 A.C. on, it was quite an important and mighty kingdom, until Danish Vikings conquered the region in the ninth century. But since we’re not an online encyclopaedia…

It’s also a region not that far away from Toronto, Canada, with a notorious university…

Amenra / Madensuyu

Consouling Sounds are pretty active lately, with quite some interesting new releases on their (in mean time fabulous) roster. The label never eschewed to step away from conformity, and with this two-way split (which is part of a picture disc series) they do strengthen their prominent position within the worldwide Sludge / Post-Metal scene (once again). But this release needs to be considered as a collaboration in between three artists: two bands, i.e.

Aidan Baker - Thisquietarmy

Hypnodrone Ensemble is a collaboration in between two famous artists, Eric Quach of thisquietarmy-fame, and Nadja’s Aidan Baker (on October 3rd 2014 this top-webzine Concreteweb ( ;-) ) updated the review on Caudal’s second album, Ascension, which was released via the fabulous Belgian label Consouling Sounds on the very same day as this album; Caudal are another project Aidan Baker is involved

Eleanora

Those who are trusted with Consouling Sounds will not be surprised to notice that Eleanora’s newest piece of Aural Art will be released in co-operation with this (excellent) Belgian label. You might have heard of them since they did a split with Amenra, but the best is yet to come!
