Rojinski

One of the most productive Dark Ambient artists lately must be Alexei Rojinski, the human being behind the Rojinski-outfit. Throughout a couple of years, (t)his project evolved from a rather Electro-based one into an Ambient-oriented act, balancing in between societal subjects at the one hand and obscure / spiritual / … ones at the other. …and everything in between. I mean, conceptually in the first place, of course.

Rojinski

Even-though this guy from the French-speaking part of Belgium (Wallonia, the South of the country) is active as musician for about two decades, initially under the Planets Citizens moniker (rather EBM / Electro-Pop-oriented), I only noticed him about one year ago. It was under his moniker Rojinski that Alexei drew my attention.

Walg

I do know that these guys did finish a second album in the meantime, but I once promised to write down my thoughts on their debut, and since I am such sympathetic guy…

Cryo Depth

This album does not deal with the heroic warriors from Snake Island (got it?), but it is a new effort by a solo-outfit of Olga Kann, called Cryo Depth. I have been extremely impressed and overwhelmed before by her creations Alarm Call 1986 (dealing with the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl) or Monolith (FYI: both have been reviewed by undersigned; in case of interest, click on the link below). So, I was quite enthralled when she did finish a new recording, called The Haunted Stories.

Silent Obsession

Silent Obsession are a young project (formed in 2017) from Algerian soil, formed by Max Marginal. At the end of Spring 2020, as a quartet, Silent Obsession independently released a first EP, called Lost. Now, about one year later (and a couple of minutes or so), the project finished a second EP with the working title Countdown, also independently released.

Promise Down

My first acquaintance with Antwerp (Belgium) based act Promise Down was via the first volume of the Sounds Of Hell Series (a magnificent compilation series focusing on the scene from the Benelux). I was quite surprised by their contribution Furious Masturbation (part of this EP, so I will surely come back to this specific track soon), and suddenly – don’t ask me why, or how – I got their debut EP in my hands. It’s a five-piece mini-album that – nope, I’ll come to that back soon too.

Lůn

Warning: there is a huge dose of feminism going on when talking about the French project Lůn, but it has to do with the female force as a vital part of Mater Terra’s evolution, as goddesses of Human Life, rather than with some anti-male statement. Phew…

Cryo Depth

Not that long ago, I got in touch with a young lady from Belarus, Olga Kann. I didn’t immediately recognize her name, but still I had to know some of her works, for she is quite ‘famous’ as visual artist (besides painter / drawing artist, she’s also photographer and sculptor, by the way, with a very open-minded artistic vision, drawing influences from different angles).

Cryo Depth

I did start this review, for myself, tens of times before, and I did delete my introduction time after time. I wanted to focus on the destructive nature of ‘us’, the human kind, and as you might know, ‘we’, that ‘human kind’, is a disaster for Mater Terra in all its aspects. But then again, I didn’t feel like going into that matter too deeply this time.

Murmuur

Note before starting off: when I refer to Black Flame, it is not the (great) Italian Black Metal band I am referring to, but a one-man project, also from Italy, that unfortunately stopped its activities in Spring 2019. A pity…

(and oh yes, I have no cover art, so I’ve used the artist’s profile picture)
