Lůn

Warning: there is a huge dose of feminism going on when talking about the French project Lůn, but it has to do with the female force as a vital part of Mater Terra’s evolution, as goddesses of Human Life, rather than with some anti-male statement. Phew…

Cryo Depth

Not that long ago, I got in touch with a young lady from Belarus, Olga Kann. I didn’t immediately recognize her name, but still I had to know some of her works, for she is quite ‘famous’ as visual artist (besides painter / drawing artist, she’s also photographer and sculptor, by the way, with a very open-minded artistic vision, drawing influences from different angles).

Cryo Depth

I did start this review, for myself, tens of times before, and I did delete my introduction time after time. I wanted to focus on the destructive nature of ‘us’, the human kind, and as you might know, ‘we’, that ‘human kind’, is a disaster for Mater Terra in all its aspects. But then again, I didn’t feel like going into that matter too deeply this time.

Murmuur

Note before starting off: when I refer to Black Flame, it is not the (great) Italian Black Metal band I am referring to, but a one-man project, also from Italy, that unfortunately stopped its activities in Spring 2019. A pity…

(and oh yes, I have no cover art, so I’ve used the artist’s profile picture)

Aeonian Sorrow

The Greek band Aeonian Sorrow was formed almost five years ago by (beautiful) singer Gogo Malone, whom you might know from Gothic Death Metal act Luna Obscura. She started this outfit to have her own ideas canalised into own songs, and soon she got accompanied by other (talented) musicians from Greece, Colombia and Finland.

Flynotes

Flynotes are a band from Saint Petersburg, Russia, which was formed in 2010. In 2011, they released a first full-length studio album, Our Zoo, followed in 2013 by a second self-released album, called Shiva Telescopes. After some silence, the band returned in 2016 with a digital EP, The Smell Of Space, and very recently, with a renewed line-up, Flynotes release Child In The Woods, once again independently released.

Survival Is Suicide

Hailing from the beautiful city of Barcelona, you know, the capital city within the independent new country of Catalonia (no further comment…), Survival Is Suicide are a duo that started playing together under this name more than a decade ago. In 2011 Epojè (drums) and Zaratozom (vocals, bass, keyboards) released their debut album, …Just Like Spiders Eat Flies, which was mixed and mastered, by the way, by no one else but Javi Félez.

Celtefog

Celtefog is an outfit by Archøn, whom you might know as guitarist of Greek act Empathy. He started this project to play a more Pagan-oriented form of Extreme Metal, often helped out by his Empathy-colleague Wolfram as session drummer.

Nuklear Frost

To celebrate their tenth anniversary, Minnesota-based act Nuklear Frost released their first full album, Subjugation, which clocks just over half an hour. The seven-tracker was mixed and mastered by Maxwell Thomas Karon, who was responsible for the final result as well for releases from bands like Scordatura, Astral Blood, Mouth Of The Serpent or Adora Vivos too.

Visoteric

Faunus Amadeus Loki acts under different monikers, both in collaboration with other artists (think Dracul - Order Of The Dragon), as well as solo (Herrenvolk, Stark von Oben, Endoki Forest); I recently wrote and updated the review for Endoki Forest’s Black Sorcerers Forest or Herrenvolk’s EP Imperator – see the upload of March 4th 2016 and March 28th 2016 respectively.
