Raison d'Être (2)

On Friday the 22nd of April 2016 we did publish a review for a retrospective, a compilation of the oldest stuff by Peter Andersson’s most known project, Raison d’Être. Around the period of that release, Old Europa Café also came up with the expanded re-release edition of Metamorphyses, one of the many Raison d’Être-albums that were on Swedish, and sadly defunct Industrial-label Cold Meat Industry (in 2006, FYI).

Nazghor

Despite being active for four years only (they were founded in 2012), Uppsala, Sweden-based Nazghor now team up with their fifth recording, after Life Impaled (2013, Nebular Winter Productions / Dead Center Productions), Upon The Darkest Season (2014, Dead Center Productions, also re-released on tape afterwards), Through Darkness And Hell (2014, Metallic Media) and Diabolical Teachings (2015, a co-release of Metallic Media

Artefactum

I recently crossed paths with Greg and the label Ur Muzik, a guy and a label that rather focus on quality than on quantity. That’s why they do release only one up to three albums each year, and up till now there aren’t but nine release, despite the label’s start in 2009. An example of one of these releases is Foxgloves And Bluebells, created by the blonde fairy Merissa d’Erlette under the Artefactum moniker.

Atrium Carceri

Cryo Chamber Records are a label based in Oregon, ‘focusing on high quality Dark Ambient with a cinematic edge’. The label was started by Simon Heath, the human entity behind projects such as mighty Za Frûmi, Sabled Sun, Abnocto and others, but especially known from Atrium Carceri. For most projects on his label, he takes care of both artwork and mastering too, by the way (cf.

KomaH

Spinal Records are like a premier label for the Belgian scene with a limited amount of quite interesting releases on its roster in mean time. You can find some reviews on Concreteweb for bands just like Exuviated (update of December 28th 2015), Hell City (see upload December 1st 2014), Drakkar (November 10th 2014) or Deepshow (published on April 29th 2015).

Malmort

On March 28th 2016 I did publish a review for Malmort’s Vox In Excelso, this French band’s debut full length album for Hass Weg Productions. Via the very same label we can also experience the sophomore full length, Excerpta Funebris. Once again, the songs were recorded at the La Grôlle Studio (except for the drums). The lyrics (mainly written by vocalist Reicheran) are in French, with some Latin excerpts injected.

Mettadone

Mettadone are quite a new project by drummer Evgeniy Shamarin and singer Max Iliashenko, two Ukrainian guys who joined forces under this moniker in 2014. Evgeniy wrote some material around that period, and together with Max and several session musicians, they recorded a first album in the N.C. Records studio. Evgeniy himself took care of the production, and the lyrics were written by Katerina Gurieva, who also performs the female vocals on this first album.

Lutece

Ten years ago, in meantime, vocalist Hesgaroth and instrumentalist Denosdrakkh (respectively the lyricist and song composer too) started this outfit, Lutece, after they disbanded Dark Requiem. They wrote and recorded some first material, and in 2007 they released the debut album …And Ancestors Still Remain.

Triple Sun

The origins of Triple Sun go back to 2011, when Katia & Marielle Labeque’s Minimalist Dreamhouse were conquering the city of London in a couple of nights. Massimo, David and Raphaël joined forces to play as session musicians at London’s King’s Place with the Labeque sisters, and they decided to go on, or at least to try out something together. This transformed, slowly but surely, into the organic entity called Triple Sun.

The Nightstalker

Wolfshade Records are a (small) label from the city of Rivne, in the North-West of Ukraine (not that far away from the borders with Belarus and Poland), known for releases for bands such as Tyrania, Sea Of Despair, Ethir Anduin, Fabiant, Mettadone, Poezd Rodina or Mortalium.
