Astarium

Since I already wrote about the history and discography of this project in the reviews I recently did for the (re) release of Wyrm Of Melancholy (see update November 11th 2014) or Atenvx (updated on December 1st 2014), I will refer to them. I will go immediately to the review of the aural part for this mini-album, which was recorded once again by SiN at the SH Studio (from December 2013 till February 2014).

Zarach ‘Baal’ Tharagh - Y’ha-Nthlei

When I saw that there was a split in between Zarach ‘Baal’ Tharagh and Y’ha-Nthlei, I experienced some form of happiness, I think. I know that happiness is an emotion that can’t kill you, but still I was shocked. Was it good? Was it bad? Did I need to see the psy? Anyway, soon I returned to reality, hailing blasphemy, misanthropy, anger, desolation and melancholy, but deep inside me there was a voice crying out: ‘thank you, Nitroatmosphericum, for this present’…

Weed Is Weed

Let’s be honest: Weed Is Weed as band’s moniker… You might have a clue what this stuff would sound like / would be dealing about, don’t you. Besides, the band consists of members currently or formerly involved with the likes of Earthride, Spirit Caravan, Bobby Liebling’s Ram Family, Pentagram and Land Of Doom, so you cannot deny it anymore: this must be hazy and psychedelic Doom. And indeed, it is!

Teomorph

My knowledge about this project is extremely limited, but I think this is a Russian (one-man) outfit, and that this album is the first under the Teomorph-moniker. Oh yes, the artwork was created by Russian artist Alex Zubowsky, and it’s rather strange and apart.

Stench

When Swedish act Stench, with members of Tribulation, released their debut album In Putrescence at the end of 2010 (review: see update November 26th 2010, available in the Archive-section on Concreteweb), I wasn’t just surprised. I was truly charmed by these Swedes’ nasty Old School adventure. I think these guys toured a lot in mean time, but it took until now before they were about to release a new full length (there was an EP earlier this year).

Process Of Guilt - Rorcal

Well, isn’t that sweet. When two bands meet on a festival, they become friends. More specific, this was the case for Process Of Guilt and Rorcal, who shared stage at the 2011-edition of Amplifest. As a result, they performed live together several times afterwards too (like in Japan). And now, to seal their relationship officially, they will release an untitled split.

Lucifers Hammer

Lucifers Hammer (to my humble opinion written this way, and not as lucifers hammer, without the in between the ‘r’ and the ‘s’ – but of course that is of no major importance, yet being a purist, since I am searching for the most corrective way to inform you…) were an act from Michigan, formed in 1986 and creators of some demos and two albums, 1997’s The Mists Of Time and 2001’s Ghosts Of Fall. After that second album, the band split up.

Pagan Assault

French label Soleil Blanc Productions gets ran by KFD, a mostly sympathetic but, at the same time, frustrated and misanthropic guy. He has two solo-projects going on (actually, he recorded some material as well under the KFD-moniker, but this has not been released officially, if I am not mistaken), and these acts’ material gets released via his own label.

Obituary

Well, why should I introduce this band? I have no idea why I should do so, for everybody knows them, these highly influential protagonists of the worldwide Death Metal scene. So I’ll skip the unnecessary crap, and go immediately to the essence, i.e. Inked In Blood.

Nucleus Torn

Nucleus Torn are the main project by Fredy Schnyder, who each time works with several guest and session musicians to create his musical journeys. This time is no difference, with Anna Murphy doing the vocals once again (she is known from Eluveitie, Lethe, godnr.universe! and others). Remarkable fact: on this album she’s the sole singer.
