Avenged Sevenfold

Avenged Sevenfold is an American hard rock/metal band from California U.S.A. and was formed in 1999. The band consists of vocalist M. Shadows, guitar players Zacky Vengeance and Synister Gates, and bassist Johnny Christ. Their drummer (the Rev) unfortunately died a some time ago and was replaced by the drummer from dream theater: Mike Portnoy. But now the band has found a drummer in Arin Ilejay.

Trivium

Trivium is an American metal band from Orlando, Florida, and was formed in 2000. At a high school talent show, Matt Heafy (current front man) performed a Metallica cover and (past frontman) Brad Lewter noticed Heafy and asked him to try out for his band witch he joined later on.

Satyricon

I think it’s useless, and a waste of time, to make a full introduction on Satyricon. This Norwegian duo (Frost and Satyr Wongraven) is Elite in different aspects. I still consider their earliest works, and their debut full length Dark Medieval Times more specifically, as CULT, but since they turned into a rather Post-Black oriented form of Musical Extremism, they reached a wider audience; but still they deserve it.

Kvelertak

Kvelertak (Witch is Norwegian for "stranglehold" or "chokehold") is a six-piece rock band witch was formed in 2007. The group comprises of singer Erlend Hjelvik, guitar players Vidar Landa, Bjarte Lund Rolland and Maciek Ofstad, bass player Marvin Nygaard and drummer Kjetil Gjermundrød.

Storm Corrosion

This is the long awaited and speculated upon collaboration between Opeth guitarist Michael Akerfeldt and Porcupine Tree frontman and solo artist Steven Wilson, and considering the history, it hàs been a long time coming.

Machine Head

Machine Head is an American trash metal band from Oakland, California (Bay area). The band was formed in 1992, and was founded by Adam Duce and Robb Flynn. The band came to life when Flynn felt musically unfulfilled in previous band Vio-lence and requested to start a side project. When his request was denied, he left the band and formed Machine Head in 1992 with Adam Duce, Logan Mader and Tony Constanza.

Down

Down, who still play their typical mix of sludge metal and classic rock, prefer to take their time. The band started already back in 1991, but The Purple is only their fourth album to date. The difficulty in judging this album is that I started to like it after quite some effort to dig and try to find interesting elements In the beginning it sounded rather typical and my initial impression was that few things were going on.
