Héautontimorouménos

Freakin' weird name for a band, ain't it (the first 3 times you try to pronounce it, you'll probably tumble over your tongue some, but after that you'll find the word difficult to expel from your mind)? But it's got a history, seen as it is a poem of of the Spleen et Idéal part of Charles Baudelaire's Fleurs du Mal. The Greek title literally translates as “one's own henchman”, and the poem reflects an emotion of solitude of its author.

H.E.A.T.

H.E.A.T. exists since 2007, and despite losing their original singer who left the band, continue to score success after success, especially in their homeland and it’s surroundings.

While working on their new full album, which will soon be released, these guys offer us a 4 track EP.

Gus G.

Gus G, born September 12 1980 in Thessalonki, Greece and is a metal guitaris. He current plays with his band Firewind and Ozzy Osbourne. He also played in Mystick Prophecy, Nightragen, Arch Enemy and Dream Evil. In 2012 he had time to made he solo record because he want to made some hard-rock/metal music.

Gloryful

Gloryful is a band from Gelsenkirchen, Germany, formed in 2010 playing an epic type of heavy Metal. The current members are Johnny La Bomba – Vocals, Jens "Shredmaster JB" Basten – Guitar, Vito Papotto – Guitar, Oliver Karasch – Bass and Hartmut Stoof – Drums.

El Drugstore

Hailing from Keyport, New Jersey, Instrumental Prog-Technical Aggro-Metal act El Drugstore was formed in 2008 as a side-project of guitarist Kevin Conway drummer Seth Rheam of East Of The Wall (Prog-Technical Metal band of the same town, of whom I recently reviewed the latest album Redaction Artefacts – you can find it posted somewhere around Christmas 2013, I guess), alongside bassist Rolando Alvarado.

Drawers

Although the math stoner rock influenced wave, especially the French, that has been growing lately does not particularly interest me, because lack of originality, this band does show some skill on this CD enough to keep me focussed on, as 8 songs flow reasonably well. Plenty of catchy riffs, well done groove sections and angry, but not particularly interesting, vocals thrown in for the Mastodon, Torche and Baroness sludge feel. It's not the most varied or demanding style, but these guys rip it up with power and conviction.

Dot Legacy - 1

Very little is known about this Paris, France based quartet of Alternative Rock/ Metal youngsters, but from little bits and pieces in different sources on the Internet, I was able to gather together the following.

Dot Legacy

Dot Legacy is a fairly young band. It’s made up of four young French rockers witch use elements such as stoner, noise and even post-rock. But apparently that’s basically all the info you kind find about them.

And I see why. Now I don’t want to break down their album to the ground, because fair is fair and this record has some good riffs/lyrics….but it is just average at best. Nothing special, no goose bumps, no “let me listen to that again” moment. So yeah, I wouldn’t put to much info about myself online if I would release an album like this.

Dodsferd

Greek act Dodsferd are very productive (more than a hand full of full lengths, besides some other stuff; you can, for example, find the short but clear review undersigned did on Spitting With Hatred The Insignificance Of Life within the Archives’ update on May 22nd 2011), and without any doubt I do appreciate everything they ever did. Signing to Moribund, for example, is something I do appreciate a lot, for the collaboration of a great act and a great label results in nothing but superlatives.
