As you might now, World In Sound occasionally digs up some of those lost gems in Psychedelic music which have long since been out of print...and one of those gems is this here self-titled album by a group of Detroit based youngsters who recorded the thing back in 1970.
I won’t spend my time on a lengthy, deepening introduction. Check out the .net or the reviews I did on the newest Lethe-album (posted on March 13th 2014) or Manii’s last year’s full length debut (see update January 8th 2013).
Although this so-called Stoner band, based in Bovolone (near Verona in the North of Italy) was officially born in September of 2010, its history goes back to a year prior, when drummer Francesco “Francis Slaves” Schiavi and bassist Umberto Patuzzo along with singer/ guitarist Stefano Carmagnani started the band Jab.
Fake Idols was formed from the union of three bands in the hard rock/metal genre (Raintime, Slowmotion Apocalypse and Jar Of Bones). The Power Trio known as Doctor Cyclops was founded in 2007 in Bosmenso (a really small village situated some 50 km North by North-East of Genova, in the Appenine mountains of North Italy) by childhood friends, singer/ guitarist Christian Draghi and bassist Francesco Filippini (who, if I got the info correct, had already played in another band together, but only went for their own personal tastes in music by forming DC), and drummer Alessandro Dallera.
On November 4th 2013, MDD Records re-released Demilich’s grandiose 1993-album Nespithe. I’d like to refer to the review I did for this re-issue, which was posted on February 8th 2014, for a (short) history of the band.
Crosses (usually stylized as †††) is the musical side project of Deftones frontman Chino Moreno, guitarist Shaun Lopez and Chuck Doom. They al got together in 2011 to form this band. And although they got together in 2011, it took them until now to get their self-titled album released (except for en EP). But what to say about this record….well it’s certainly not something you would expect from Chino.
Doom Metal fans may have wondered what singer Eric Wagner has been up to, after his departure from Chicago's legendary Trouble (with whom he served from 1979 to 1986...when the band went on a hiatus, and then again from 1993 on)...well, we now find our answer with the release of this, Blackfinger's debut release!
For convenience's sake, we'll turn the clock on our time machine back to the summer of 2010, and to the geographical coordinates to the North-East Italian town of Genova.
