While at University Of Manchester, lead singer/ bassist Sideeq Mohammed, guitarist David Gwynn and drummer Daniel Mucs (also known from the bands Collibus and Wolfcrusher) founded NAE in late 2009, with the intention of developing a unique brand of Metal driven by brutality and technical precision.
An album by guitarist/ singer Leslie West is always a joy to come across, except when you're a music critic and know that the website you work for has never before done a review of the man's previous work. Because, you see, that means I have t bring up the man's career from the beginning, doesn't it? Well, I promise to not elaborate too much, because West's history goes back quite a while!
Hybris is a London based technical thrash metal band witch concept started originally in distant 2002, when Federica (Centurions Ghost) made camp in London and started writing riffs for what would have been an all-female metal band. However, finding the right people seemed to be a big issue.
People into French Psychedelica will need no further introduction about this band, in which singer/ guitarist/ songwriter Gregory Raimu brings the highest notes, and those needing it anyway are welcome to check out the reviews I made for his GR & Full Blown Expansion album (posted 03/01/2010) and his (third) solo album A Reverse Age (posted 30/05/ 2013).
No doubt about it, since his departure from Dream Theater, drummer Mike Portnoy has been anything but idle.
Darn...it seems almost impossible, but the new Crimson Falls album exceeds my expectations with giant leaps. I'm só exhilarated I can't think where to begin first to explain...but first, let's give you an update on what's been happening with the band since we last came across this great Belgian Melodic Death Metal/ Metalcore act, shall we?
Hum...not a lot of info on this band to be found on the Internet, and it's therefore a blessing that we still have the info sheet we got along with the promo copy of the album! So, with further ado, let's just “copy-paste” (huh...like as if!) the info found there, with the sparse additions we díd find!
Having been temporarily inhibited (through situations at the work space) to continue reviewing on the normal basis I'm used to, I was forced to delay this here review (which is actually part of a 10-album package – the other reviews were posted 29/09 of last) until later date. As I worked in a chronological order to review the albums of that package, I want it understood from the start that this album's later review is only in relation to that fact, and not in any way to a possible lesser “quality” of the product.
The Miami-based band Orbweaver was formed in 2010 by e.g. ex-Hate Eternal / Gigan’s Randy Piro. There was a nameless demo before this release, and since then the line-up did change somewhat. But in mean time, vocalist / guitarist Randy started working with some experienced musicians, amongst whom Sally Gates, a colleague in Gigan, as lead guitar player, to have this five-tracker perfected for our ear drums’ pleasure.
