Across Tundras

All of a sudden, our “Psychedelica” colleague was not answering his mails anymore, nor did any of his friends know where he might be...so, weary of the wait, our editor-in-chief decided to burden yours truly with the task of doing the colleague's job on top of my usual load of reviews!

In Silentio Noctis

Finland’s In Silentio Noctis were formed seven years ago, with a debut full length in 2010, called Through Fragments Of Christianity (also via My Kingdom Music). And in the vein of that first full studio release, Disenchanting The Hypocrites continues the path of Symphonic and Obscure Metal.

Trivium

Trivium is an American metal band from Orlando, Florida, and was formed in 2000. At a high school talent show, Matt Heafy (current front man) performed a Metallica cover and (past frontman) Brad Lewter noticed Heafy and asked him to try out for his band witch he joined later on.

Skeletonwitch

Two years after the excellent full length Forever Abomination, also released via Prosthetic Records (the review was put on the site, now available via the Archive-tab, on October 30th 2011), the American act Skeletonwitch returns with the fifth effort, entitled Serpents Unleashed, which has duration of, unfortunately, thirty two minutes only (short durations of their albums seem to be standard).

Oliva

Would you believe it ?  This guy has been in the music business for over 30 years, and now Jon Oliva  is releasing his first ever solo album.  How this record or rather the songs on it originated, I’ll try to tall you in a few words.

Firewind

This is already the second live album by Firewind. In 2008 they released their first one ‘Premonition’.  Since they’ve released two additional studio albums and thought the time was ripe to release another live album.  This is also the last material they are releasing with their former vocalist Apollo, who left the band after seven fruitful years.

Chasing Violets

I seem to have missed these girls first album, the 2012 release ‘Outside Heaven’; these two French sisters are rejoicing the world of AOR fans with their second album ‘Jade Hearts’.  It’s a bit strange hearing these Frenchies bringing us easy listening AOR music.

Tyla J. Pallas

Who remembers the Dog’s D’amour, a band founded in 1983 in London, England ?  Even I don’t.  Well, the only constant in Dog’s D’amour lineup Tyla  now releases another solo album under his own name Tyla J. Pallas.

Stryper

Line Up  : Michael Sweet – Lead Vocal / Lead Guitar

Robert Sweet – Drums and Visual Timekeeping

Timothy Gaines – Bass / Vocals

Oz Fox – Lead Guitar / Vocals

Classic metal is indestructible, and Stryper proves that with their new album ‘No More Hell To Pay’.

Raving Season

Almost eight years back, Rome-based band Raving Season was formed by female vocalists Federica (raw grunts) and Judith (clean vocals), and guitarist Sergio. When another guitar player and music composer, Marco, joined the crew, Raving Season recorded and self-released their first EP, called The Brightness Of My Disaster (recorded May 2009).
