Sphäre Sechs

About one year after the grandiose recording Particle Void, also released via mighty Cryo Chamber, the duo Martin Stürtzer and Christian Stritzel return with their fourth masterwork. It was a coincidence, or a prophetic omen, but the day before label owner Simon Heath did send me this album’s download link, I had listened to Particle Void once again because I just felt like. Karma or not, but it made me aroused for some (understandable) reason.

1914

War in…

Exactly 100 years after the start of the first World War, some Ukrainian musicians joined forces under the name of 1914. Not kidding! Their aim was, in the first place, to play the stuff they do like, i.e. heavy and warlike Death Metal from the old school, and in the second place to canalise some thoughts on WWI. Pay attention, because 1914 are not a typical Nazi-combo, okay!

As Autumn Calls

For almost fifteen years, Canadian act As Autumn Calls dooms all over the globe with their messages of despair, loneliness, tristesse and grief. The band was formed in 2005 by James Hawkins (grunts and bass) and Andrew Ilves (guitars and clean vocals), and in 2009 they self-released the great three-track EP Emotionless.

Misanthropic Existence

When you call your band ‘misanthropic existence’, I know that you’re doing a great job. So be welcomed, Misanthropic Existence!

Actually, this band was formed at the very beginning of this decade. In 2012 they recorded a first demonstrational mini-recording, and two of these tracks also made it, that very same year, to a split with Baalberith, Razakel Krieg and Mantarok (Satanica Productions). Then things went silent…

Shrine

The story continues… After 2016’s Ordeal 26.04.86 (Cyclic Law), the fictional story based on Tomb Raider III, goes on with Celestial Fire. A meteorite did crash on the ancient / former tropical lands of what is now known as Antarctica. The ancient Polynesians who discovered the rock worshipped it as a deity, yet since their new-borns started mutating, they left these place, yet not before sealing the ancient meteorite into a cave, a dungeon, locked by four artefacts used as key.

Abduction

Phil Illsley used to be the lead vocalist in Lordaeron for several years, and he’s involved with bands such as Taken By The Tide or Death Tripper too. But as A|V, he recently started the project Abduction. This solo-outfit is modestly productive, for Abduction recently released a new full-length album, the third one in nearly two years. The working title of that recording is All Pain Is Penance.

Coldborn

Even though this recording was released two and a half years ago, yet seen that I do not give a f*ck about writing about new or old stuff, I have the politeness and goodwill to focus on Lingering Voidwards right now. This material is really worth (my) attention; ere wie ere toekomt!

Legion

You know, the Dutch collective Rock Company exists for more than three decades in the meantime, and as an underestimated yet upcoming label it is part of NoReSt as from 2010. Rock Company is home to several known and lesser known bands, especially specialized in Hard Rock and (Heavy / Power) Metal, and all related genres. Part of the roster is Legion, a band from the U.K. (a country once part of Europe before being incorporated as 51st state of the U.S.Aarghhh).
