Syndrome

Belgian auto-didactic musician / multi-instrumentalist / composer Mathieu Vandekerckhove is known from his activities in acts like AmenRa, Caan, Sembler Deah or Kingdom, but since ten years, he acts as a solo-artist under the moniker of Syndrome as well. In 2011, for example, he did release the surprising full length Floating Veins (on CD and LP, via ConSouling Sounds).

Altaar

Altaar is the project of Andreas Tylden (guitar, vocals), but along the way Andreas has picked up Sven Ove Toft (guitar, organ) Espen T Hangard (guitar, synths), Didrik Telle (bass) and Kenneth Lamond (drums).

Destinity

The French horde Destinity celebrated its fifteenth anniversary last year, entre outre with the preparation of album # 8, Resolve In Crimson. This record was recorded again with Jacob Hansen (!) and it features guest vocals by Stéphane Buriez, whom you might know from another great French Extreme Metal act, Loudblast.

In Utero Cannibalism

Greek band In Utero Cannibalism was formed nine years ago and released two albums before, Psychotic Killing Lust and Frenzied, both via OBSE Productions. They were also able to perform along known acts like Napalm Death, Pungent Stench, Malevolent Creation, Massacre or Nile. During summer 2010, however, In Utero Cannibalism were put on rest, at least for a while.

Moss

Moss’s Horrible Night is grim, bleak, desolate, distorted, sombre, painstakingly slow yet the infernal pandemonium Chris Chantler-drums, Dominic Finbow-guitars and Olly Pearson-vocals/bass whip up is intoxicating.

Jungle Rot

Founders of the death metal scene in the beginning of the 1990's, Jungle Rot from the USA just released their eight full-length through Victory Records, called Terror Regime. Terror Regime sounds like it takes you through a cruel horror movie as if it's a roller coaster ride through a butcher's house. The quality songwriting of Jungle Rot proves to be the key to the death metal lock once again. Every song stands on its own and is a real banger.

As They Burn

Hailing from the city of love and light, Paris, As They Burn are the newest sensation in the deathcore genre. Think of a mixture of the fury of Emmure and the heaviness of country mates Gojira and you'll end up with As They Burn.

Infernal Tenebra

New Formed Revelations is the third album by Croatian four-piece Infernal Tenebra. The band was able to have this material mixed and mastered by top-producer Jens Bogren at his Fascination Street Studio (think: Turisaz, Amon Amarth, Be’lakor, Borknagar, Paradise Lost, Gwyllion and many more), which attests the full, great sound. This album has nothing to do with Black Metal anymore.

Darkthrone

Gylve ‘Fenriz’ Nagell and Ted ‘Nocturno Culto’ Skjellum return with album # 666, and what strikes me as from the very first moment: six songs only for a total duration of forty two minutes. Why not?...

The Underground Resistance was recorded in two years and is the most logical Darkthrone record seen their permanent progression. Everything is Old School, yet the variety is enormous. However, this band’s characterising trademarks are present in every single detail.

Asylum Pyre

Asylum Pyre released their debut album ‘Natural Instinct’ in 2009.  I seem to have missed this album completely.  Now they’re back with their second opus.  Since their previous album there have been line-up changes, the drummer has been replaced, but also the female front vocalist has changed.
