Mamiffer & Circle

Just when find my mind completely clouded about how to start this review, I see the opening lines of the label's presentation of this collaboration project, and that misty cloud dissipates with the idea to simply reproduce that text...so here it comes!

InsIDeaD

This Athens based Greek Metal act was founded in 1997 by bassist Nick M. (whom was actually born and raised in Sweden) and singer/ guitarist George T., and it wasn't until 2005 that the band gained a seeming stability with the joining of drummer Dimitris Jim Manolopoulos (an event preceded by the joining of lead guitarist George Papadimitropulos in 2003).

Gypsy Chief Goliath

No doubt about it: Gypsy Chief Goliath would stand proudly in a book gathering the wackiest bandnames in Rock history! Foremost however, I feel the band's already earned its place in the regular history books of music as well!

Grime

Italian act Grime recorded the debut-album Deteriorate (total running time: forty one minutes) at Igloo Audiofactory with Enrico Baraldi, and it got mixed and mastered by one of the most experienced guys within this specific scene, Billy Anderson (known for his studio work with, for example, Neurosis, AmenRa, Ramesses, Dragged Into Sunlight, Brutal Truth and tens of others).

Grai

This Russian Folk/ Pagan Metal act from Tatarstan's second-biggest town Naberezhnyye Chelny (which from 1982 to 1988 was named Brezjnev!) was apparently already formed in 2005, more specifically on July 3rd of that year, although under a different monicker, which also changed over time (from Raven Blood to Vorog) before ending up its current bandname (which is Russian for “bird's cry”) in Feb. of 2007!

Five Finger Death Punch - 2

Lately, tons of people have been worrying about the future of hard rock and metal. Some think it's on the verge of extinction because of a lack of big names within the genre. They realize that the 'golden oldies' will one day have to be replaced with other major headliner-worthy names. However, these people should not fear, because with Five Finger Death Punch, we have one of these names! Take some Slipknot, add some Killswitch Engage and even some Metallica and what you get is the perfect sound that these American guys produce.

Enabler

There's not a lot of factual info to be found about this Hardcore-Punk/ Metal crossover band hailing from Milwaukee, WI, and the story related below is therefore a concoction of my own.

DAAU

This Antwerp based band got together in 1992 but, unlike more the more Rock-geared acts of the town in that era (such as dEUS, A Beatband, and Moondog Junior...the latter later transforming into Zita Swoon), and somewhat in keeping with their band's name Die Anarchistische Abendunterhaltung proposed a slightly different filling of the evening, playing acoustic instrumentals for a kind of emotionally-laden Neo-Folk type of music.

Aetherium Mors

Almost ten years ago, Aetherium Mors from the U.K. were founded by Kane Nelson (vocals) and Dan Cough (instruments) in order to pay tribute to the likes of Carcass, Death, At The Gates, Dissection etc. The initial line-up, however, didn’t hold (due to a lack of interest or persuasion or appreciation by the other members), and the duo went on as a studio-only project. Both of them, by the way, also got involved by other musical outlets.
