Entrails

The origins of Swedish band EntrailS (not the one from the very same country, but hailing from the city of Avesta, at the North of Stockholm; ‘ours’ is the one from Linneryd, at the South of Sweden) go back to Winter 1990/1991. A couple of friends wanted to play Death Metal in the Sunlight-vein, but things didn’t seem to turn out very well. The members rehearsed a lot, but after some time, half of the quartet decided to quit to concentrate on other musical projects, and shortly after EntrailS were put to rest.

DuskMachine

In 2004, the band formerly known as Deception [which was founded back in 1995, and in 2004 was composed of singer Hagen Hirschmann (also know from Desilence, Logar's Diary, Dawn and 7 Seals), guitarist Nikolai Wurk, bassist Peter Habura (see also Necros Christos), and drummer Randy Black (see also Primal Fear, Annihilator, Rebellion, Rooky)] changed its nam

Andrew Wyatt

This New York City native began his career in music quite some time ago, bustin' his chops in bands of Joan Wasser, Black Beetle (which featured members of Jeff Buckley's band), and Michael Tighe's Post Punk Revival act The A.M....but at the moment he is certainly best known as the singer of duo Electronic Indie act Miike Snow and, more recently, through his collaboration with Mark Ronson (for the composition of the Royal Ballet Of London's Car

Anagnorisis

Here's another album which should've gotten in colleague Ivan's to-do box (see also intro to review of Saligia EP/ mini-album, posted at same time), but this time at least the editor-in-chief cannot be blamed for the mix-up, as the (download) promo came only with a track-list.

Aleppo Pine

Our dearest Concreteweb’s headquarters did recently receive a cd-r / mp3 with seven Folk-oriented albums. As a matter of fact, Strawberry Oracle Promotions will give some renewed attention to seven bands / projects within the Folk scene by having this material put on the foreground again. It deals with both recent as well as pretty old recordings, and in order to give this stuff a boost, I will be so kind to have it reviewed.

WWE

Ok, this is a bit more unusual compared to metal albums but lets give it a try shall we. As the title implies, we got a 3 DVD box containing various rivalries in the history of wrestling. And to be honest I do love a good fight (who doesn’t?), but it has been over 10 years since I actually watched a wrestling match or even played a video game in that genre. So I have no idea who or what’s hot and what not in that particular scene. So I asked a good friend of mine who is, just to be a bit more objective.

Whitesnake

Forgive me this remark, but I think in this case Frontiers Records are really milking the cow dry so to speak.  Shortly after releasing the live album ‘Made In Japan’, they’re now releasing yet another live album ‘Made In Britain’.  And to make matters worse these recordings stem from the same tour as the ‘Made In Japan’ album.

So does it add something to Whitesnake’s repertorium?  I’m not sure, but I’ve got the slight impression that the songs on this album have just a tad more energy than those on the ‘Made In Japan’ album.

Weh

Norwegian project Weh is a mainly acoustic Folk project by Erik Evju, who wanted to create a mixture of darkened feelings and natural emotions. Under the moniker Weh, Erik recorded and released a first demo / EP in 2002, called The Death, and it received very positive reactions in Norway as well as in the rest of the world. 2003 saw the release of a second demo, called All The Sinners Are Sleeping Now, followed in 2004 by demo # 3, The Coffee’s Cold In The Morning, The Beer’s Warm At Night.

Status Quo

New double album of the legendary boogie rockers where the first disc contains songs inspired by the adventures Status Quo experienced during the making of the movie ‘Bula Quo’ and which also served as soundtrack. The surroundings in Fiji, where the movie was filmed, inspired the band to put some new musical elements to their sound that doesn’t sound like the typical Quo sound. Songs as ‘Looking Out For Caroline’, ‘Mystery Island’ or ‘Bula Bula Quo’ make you feel like you’re on an island full of palm trees and sunny beaches.

Skinflint

Wow, and I taught I heard everything? Now wait till you hear Skinflint of Africa. This 3 piece heavy metal comes band out Botswana. Not a big country know as metalminded. After releasing two full albums ‘Massive Destruction’, ‘IKLWA’. After two years of silence the band is back with their third album. ‘Dipoko’ contains nine songs that are pretty good.
