“Blues Pills” a Swedish-French-American blues rock alliance. Members are Elin Larsson (vocals), Dorian Sorriaux (guitar), Zack Anderson (bass) and Cory Berry (drums). After two Ep’s they made a new EP/10” vinyl (yellow colored) named “Live at Rockpalast” 4 new songs. Starting with “In The Beginning” a bluesy colored rock song with a Zeppelin guitar-like sound.
Well, where do I have to start with this one? Black Magic is a NWOBHM band that started in 2006 and already split- up in 2012. Now two years later, High Roller Records came out with their full length album Wizard’s Spell , counting five new numbers and the songs that where previous released on their Reap Of Evil demo in 2010.
I have no idea why this stuff was part of another big pile of new releases that came my way.
“Battleaxe” containing Dave King (vocals), Brian Smith (bass), Mick Percy (guitar) and
Paul AT Kinson (drums). They are from England, Sunderland founded in 1979. After 2 studio albums and one live they quite their activity in the early nineties. The band is now reformed and made their new album.
Agony Face are an Italian band that were formed in 2006 by Riccardo Ricotti (g), Alessandro Uberti (g) and Davide Guarinoni (v).
Without any doubt, the duo Ævangelist (multi-instrumentalist, composer, lyricist, producer, engineer and mixer Matron Thorn and vocalist / lyricist / music co-writer / co-engineer Ascaris) created (one of) my absolute 2012-Number One-album (s) De Masticatione Mortuorum In Tumulis (via I, Voidhanger Records).
I never hided my appreciation for the French Black / Death Metal scene, and one of the (many) reasons is called Temple Of Baal. For more than a decade, they do please my aural organs with hateful and unholy blasphemy. And still via the excellent Agonia-label, the band (Amduscias, Arkdaemon and Skvm; in mean time joined by Cruxifiction’s Saroth) returns with the fourth full length, which lasts for about an hour.
Another re-release by Dutch Vic Records, Polluted Inheritance’s 1996-album Betrayed. It was the band’s second full length studio album, originally released via DSFA Records (think: Within Temptation, Callenish Circle, Orphanage, Tenebris etc.). Earlier this year, we could also enjoy the re-release of this band’s 1992-debut, Ecocide, which undersigned was able to review as well.
I’m pretty sure, in case I would be interested in composing an end year’s list for 2013, that French horde Necrowretch will be part of it by means of the band’s debut full length Putrid Death Sorcery, which was released on January 28th via current label Century Media (review updated on May 9th). So could you imagine my enthusiasm when receiving this new album. However, as the title suggests, Bestial Rites 2009-2012 isn’t a new studio recording, but a compilation.
