Kowloon Walled City

I wonder if there is something like brutal panda bears, but according to Brutal Panda Records, this is a perfectly plausible combination. They released the first record of the San Francisco based band Kowloon Walled City. The band's name refers to the walled city of Kowloon in Hong Kong, a refugee where mobs, prostitutes, criminals and all other sorts of outcasts hided from the government.

Circle

Not to be confused with the Belgian band by the same name (and a couple of acts from other countries), this now possibly defunct band from Finland was founded in 1991 in the town of Pori, and throughout the years went through a series of line-up changes, making bassist/ guitarist Jussi Lehtisalo the only constant member.

Rhapsody Of Fire

The Italian Symphonic kings Rhapsody Of Fire just released a new live- album “Live- From Chaos To Eternity”. The album will be available as 2 cd digipack and as limited 3 vinyl set. The material on this album was recorded on the band’s latest European tour in Spring of 2012. The album contains a mixture of old classics and newer tracks. Since their release of “Legendary Tales” in 1997, the band gave a new meaning to the word “epic”. On this album you get 24 songs including drum solo, that maybe is a bit long.

Halloween

After the vinyl rereleases of “Victims Of the Night” and “No One Gets Out”, Pure Steel Records just rereleased the Halloween album “Horror Fire” on vinyl. This album was originally released on the band’s private label Motor City Metal Records and will now be released on double vinyl, limited to 500 copies.

Anvil

Their 2009 movie documentary The Story Of Anvil had made the band famous over the world, following seemingly endless years of energy- sapping tours. Their albums are considered as landmarks among a musical genre. Their most recent release “Juggernaut Of Justice” from 2011, was a powerfull and unrelenting thunderbolt of the first order. Now this Candian cult metal act are back with their new recording “Hope In Hell”.

Thirty Seconds To Mars

At first, people didn't really want to take Thirty Seconds To Mars from Los Angeles seriously, just because they had the actor, Jared Leto, behind the microphone. So lots of people thought that success would come without any effort. Those people quickly changed their opinion when the band proved to make rock music like it had never been heard before. The Kill was their breakthrough song, but after that, many more followed.

The Maine

It’s been five years since ‘The Maine’ released their first full-length and they’ve evolved more than some bands do in double that amount of time, now with their fourth studio album ‘Forever Halloween’ they continue their journey towards classic rock with a perfect follow-up to 2011’s ‘Pioneer’.The album opens with ‘Take What You Can Carry’, inspired by Joseph and Mary’s night in Bethlehem.

The Body

One of Mother Earth’s most eerie Doom acts is this two-piece, The Body, consisting of Lee Buford and Chip King. Again the duo recorded its new material at Machines With Magnets, and additional vocal contribution was provided by e.g. Reba Mitchell (Whore Paint), Otesanek’s Leslie Weitz, and Chrissy Wolpert (of Assembly Of Light Choir).

Shadows Past

This band was formed in 2000 by ex Insania singer Ola Halén.They recorded several demos, the last one being released in 2009. As a matter of fact three songs of that last demo were refurbished and feature on this album.

Phlebotomized

About twenty five years ago (we’re talking about the late eighties and early nineties), a couple of Extreme Metal acts added keyboard lines to their music, not only as introduction to a recording, yet as an important ‘full’ instrument. Best known example probably are Nocturnus, but acts like Torchure, The Gathering or Sinoath are other comparable possibilities as well. This goes for Dutch act Phlebotomized too.
